Blue Tit

This picture was taken today in the village of Ford at an undisclosed location. It seems the blue tit seen here, set her heart on a particular warm, cosy and dry postbox in this exclusive postal code, and not even the daily disturbance of the postman arriving, could dissuade her from setting up home. According to the owner, apparently, blue tits nests in the same location every year.

Plane Crashes in Ford, 1944

This memorial in Ford, marks the death of two crew members of a Wellington bomber that crashed on a training flight at the vilage of Ford at 01:55 hours, on the 9th January, 1944.

There she blows!

The quiet village of Ford woke up this morning to find a twenty five foot jet of mains water being pumped high into the sky. The water pressure is so great in this part of Buckinghamshire, that when a water mains bursts, it produces a quite spectacular display. The mains has burst twice in the last 6 months, having previously burst a few months earlier in the same village. In fact, I could see this unusual water feature from a neighbouring village two miles away. Repairmen were on the scene within the hour to fix the leak.

Red Kites have been seen for nearly ten years, gliding and soaring into Dinton's airspace. The original kites that started the breeding program in a joint project between the RSPB and the Nature Conservancy Council were brought in from Spain. According to one website, in 2003, there were no fewer than 177 breeding pairs located in the Chilterns, and since then, they've gone from strength to strength.
